Gregory Crewdson

I had to include a lot of images by Gregory Crewdson. I've known about his work for a few years now but I am constantly fascinated by them, and I think I appreciate them more now. I love how everything is completely set up for the photograph, absolutely every single detail thought about. His sets are like film sets, they are really quite amazing.

Edgar Martins

Edgar Martins, I remember the first time I saw these I just stared at them for ages, think they are brilliant...so very weirdly awesome.

Todd Hido

Eerie, creepy...Todd Hido. I can imagine him creeping around in the dark, spying on these houses, wonder what it would be like going around with him?

Andreas Smetana

Andreas Smetana, I'm quite intrigued by his work. He has a section on his website of behind the scenes, the make-up artist photo is taken from this, I really like what goes on behind the photo and these are all really quite interesting.

Jonathan Tay

By Jonathan Tay, I really like his thinking. My favourite is the 'welcome back class of 27', made me giggle but then feel quite sad...aw

Breast Cancer

I didn't realise at all that they were women with breast cancer when I first looked at the photos, just thought they were really beautiful seductive images...then I read the article and realised, photographed by Nick Knight, I think they are really special and must have been awesome to have been able to make these women feel amazing. See more on Dazed and Confused.

Rankin

Rankin has taken the photo of a famous musician or visual artist and then the artist has destroyed the photo, or recreated it in their style....I especially like this one of Debbie Harry, although it makes me a bit uncomfortable...but I like that it makes me feel like that....provoking. Think it's the stitching

Crewdson and new book

Gregory Crewdson- "I do have a strange disconnected relationship to photography, I don't even like holding the camera, I don't take the actual picture. What I'm interested in is images. And the camera is just a necessary instrument"

I think this is really interesting...he doesn't even press the button!

Also I have just finished reading a book called Images Makers, Image Takers by Anne-Celine Jaeger and it's brilliant, awesome interviews with photographers- really insightful and very helpful and inspiring.

daniel gustav cramer

By Daniel Gustav Cramer, I read on his website that he went on a walk and the cat was lying on it's back dead, and then later after it had been snowing, just its little paws were sticking out of the snow... aw!

surreal

Lottie Davies, really think she has constructed this image excellently, all of this series is done very well and I became much more involved when reading about the photo and memory this is from.

By Frances Kearney, love the slightly bizarre images, you're not quite sure what's going on.

Jackson Pollock, August, 1956

Photographs by Dean Rogers that show the places where nine of 'our cultural heroes' were killed in car crashes. This photograph shows where Jackson Pollock died, at the exact time and date. I think it's an amazing idea and must have been very moving to have visited each place.

Flash

I love these photographs by David Axelbank; both beautiful and eerie at the same time.

Zed Nelson

I have recently started subscribing to Hotshoe magazine, I discovered it a few while ago and I really think it's a brilliant magazine. In the latest issue I was particularly interested in Zed Nelson's work, especially the interview with him.

Hiroshi Sugimoto

Hiroshi Sugimoto, just beautiful. He took a one photo throughout the whole film, I love that the happier the film, the brighter the screen would come out.

Taryn Simon

Taryn Simon- Nuclear Waste Encapsulation and Storage Facility Cherenkov Radiation. When I first saw Taryn's work for the first time I was in awe, not only the photographs but the text with them also.

Obama's People

Amazing portraits of Obamas top advisers, aides and members of his incoming administration by Nadav Kander, awsome commission. Also there was an interview with him in the June/July Hotshoe magazine about these photos which was pretty interesting.
