In Snow

I'm quite a big fan of photoshop... so thought I would have a bit of fun and put some characters from old films into some of my snow photographs I took a few weeks ago. I find them quite amusing, and particularly like Keaton with his dog at the top.

Jim Kazanjian, found via Feature Shoot. Read an interview about his incredible work here. Kazanjian says "my images are digitally manipulated assemblages of photographs I scavenge off the internet. I do not shoot any of my own pictures".

Pawel Jaszczuk

I'm sure I have seen Pawel Jaszczuk's work before but have recently been re-introduced to it via Twitter (which I am becoming an increasing fan of), these two photographs are from the series Stay Still and High Fashion and I think they are great. They work really well as a series and are quite fascinating, I'd highly recommend having a good look through his work.

Ilkka Halso

In April this year I posted a photograph by Ilkka Halso but at the time had no idea who's work it was. I only knew that it was a remarkable image and hoped to find out who was behind it in the future. To my delight in this month's British Journal of Photography that very photograph was featured... Halso states his work is "based on a pessimistic vision of what is happening on earth. I am looking into the future and I am not very happy about that. I am considering these pictures more as visual pamphlets than aesthetical images." He definitely achieves this, but in my opinion they are also quite stunning aesthetically as well as being strong statements about the future.

I love pandas... and saw this article in the Metro recently which made me laugh to myself quite a lot. It also reminded me of these Japanese Tare pandas which I used to be completely obsessed with when I was younger and found little Gif of one of my favourites.

Nicolas Provost and Gregory Crewdson

Yesterday I went to see Gregory Crewdson's Sanctuary Exhibition at the White Cube, I'd seen these photographs previously on Nowness put together in a short film but I don't think you can really appreciate how amazing they actually are until you see them exhibited.

I also went to see Nicolas Provost who is exhibiting at the Haunch of Venison at the moment and was pretty blown away by his work, I think he is a bit of a genius and particularly liked Long Live The New Flesh, I would try and explain it but it is best to just see it for yourself... or have a good look around his website, his work is marvellous.

Also worth a mention is the Richard Green Gallery where there are six original Briget Riley paintings exhibited, well worth a look. Also the SHOWstudio Shop which I have been meaning to visit for a while was very interesting... I saw Nick Knight there too, very exciting, he's a bit of an inspiration to say the least.

Yayoi Kusama- Gleaming Lights of the Souls

Wowowowow... I have just seen this in this month's Vogue by Yayoi Kusama, apparently it's an installation where "viewers enter a dark mirrored room in which hundreds of LEDs are hung above a pool of water. As the 'glowing' stars are reflected from every surface, the effect is complete discombobulation, as if one is floating in an endless galaxy".
