Jim Naughten

Have just seen that Jim Naughten has won a pencil this year in the D&AD awards, saw his re-enactor series a while ago in Hotshoe, and I particularly like his Monk series which I haven't seen before. Beautiful and eerie, they have a strange quiet quality about them.

Johnson Banks Thought for the Week

Have just seen some of my work on Johnson Bank's blog, it's pretty exciting, and he wrote some pretty nice stuff too about our work too. This is a photo from the exhibition of the work on my wall too.

Benjamin Huseby

I quite like this by Benjamin Huseby, I like how there's a figure behind the model, quite unusual and a bit weird, but in a good way.

The Story of Science: Power, Proof and Passion

These were some of the first photos ever published, they are from Darwin's book The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals. I saw these on The Story of Science; Power, Proof and Passion on BBC 2, which I have just watched and thought was brilliant. Had to put it on my blog. Looks as the question of 'who we are', incredibly fascinating, it had everything in that I love watching... history, psychology, photography, art... everything.

You can watch it on this link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00sn5yz

It also reminded me of an exhibition I went to at The Wellcome Collection about Identity, I think it's still on now, and also The Medicine Man, which is also there. I was quite blown away by this exhibition, it doesn't do it justice on their website http://www.wellcomecollection.org/whats-on/exhibitions/medicine-man.aspx but the whole exhibition was really well executed, very good work by the graphic designers who were Kerr|Noble.

Amy Stein

Have just discovered that Amy Stein has a blog... and one of her posts showed all these films having been donated from Kodak! Very nice, last week I spent about £40 on ten films.

clemensjahn

Just came across these on http://clemensjahn.de/, got quite excited about the imagery on the website, and these are my three favourites. There's no information about any of them but I don't really mind... for once, because I usually do.

Niiice

I've no idea who did this or the intentions behind it, I've just come across it and think it is really quite spectacular really... hopefully will find more info about it in the future

Leandro Elrich

This is by Leandro Erlich, pretty clever really

Sebastian Errazuriz

This is pretty awesome...It's by Sebastian Errazuriz and is called Memorial of a Concentration Camp and was a week long installation at Chile's national stadium where dictator Pinochet in 1973 imprisoned thousands of political prisoners.
The tree was planted for a week and was opened as a public park for people to stop, look again and remember.

Ice Cube on Fire

This ice cube is on fire... no photoshop either.

Antony Crossfield

Antony Crossfield. I first saw one of his photographs at the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane in the summer and it was probably the one photograph of the exhibition that really stood out at me. His work is on the cover of the current issue of Hotshoe magazine and it was very interesting to find more out about him.

Jasmine Raznahan

Unscannable book by Jasmine Raznahan, I love this idea and how is has been photographed, both beautiful and charming.

    5 January 2010

    Freudenthal and Verhagen

Just flicked through the new Foam Magazine online and these jumped out at me straight away. Absolutely brilliant thinking and they are by Freudenthal and Verhagen. They completely blow my mind.

    Jeff Wall

Jeff Wall... I love his staged realities, and how he uses actors... not all is what it seems.

    29 December 2009

    Gregory Crewdson

I had to include a lot of images by Gregory Crewdson. I've known about his work for a few years now but I am constantly fascinated by them, and I think I appreciate them more now. I love how everything is completely set up for the photograph, absolutely every single detail thought about. His sets are like film sets, they are really quite amazing.

    Edgar Martins

Edgar Martins, I remember the first time I saw these I just stared at them for ages, think they are brilliant...so very weirdly awesome.

    Todd Hido

Eerie, creepy...Todd Hido. I can imagine him creeping around in the dark, spying on these houses, wonder what it would be like going around with him?

    20 December 2009

Just a few by Claire Strand, very intriguing work.

    Andreas Smetana

Andreas Smetana, I'm quite intrigued by his work. He has a section on his website of behind the scenes, the make-up artist photo is taken from this, I really like what goes on behind the photo and these are all really quite interesting.

    Jonathan Tay

By Jonathan Tay, I really like his thinking. My favourite is the 'welcome back class of 27', made me giggle but then feel quite sad...aw
